Wheat ends lower
MUMBAI (Commodity Online): US wheat futures closed sharply lower as traders booked profits after a recent rally to 29-month highs. "There's going to be a degree of traders that want to take profits and go home," says Shawn McCambridge, senior grains analyst at Prudential Bache.
Traders watched anti-regime protests raging in Egypt, the world's top wheat importer. Protests shouldn't slow Egypt's wheat purchases, which it makes to subsidize the bread industry, McCambridge says.
CBOT March wheat sinks 20 1/2c to $8.25 3/4 a bushel, while KCBT March wheat drops 20 1/2c to $9.12 and MGE March wheat loses 14 1/2c to $9.61 1/2.
